The players on the ground were sent to a final location described in their city's safe note to receive a Joker card and a raffle ticket. They were then led into a theater and were given a private showing of a new theatrical trailer for ''The Dark Knight''. One participant was randomly chosen in a raffle to receive a film reel. Preliminary analysis of one of these reels shows that it does not contain the trailer - in fact, it seems to be vandalized film, complete with "scribbles, drawings, Joker-type faces painted on, and tic tac toe." These prize reels may ultimately be the trailer, albeit "Jokerized."

The packages from Joseph Candoloro intercepted by participants for Operation Slipknot turned out to be Joker-associated, since these participants received a text message on their new phones from humanresources@whysoserious.com:

I wouldn't worry about Gordon. ITS ALL PART OF THE PLAN

This lead to Whysoserious.com/Itsallpartoftheplan, the starting point for a game that will presumably commence on April 28.

The countdown site features Jokerized portraits of numerous political figures on a wall, with a Joker card run through with a red knife near the top.

Locations

The portraits are updated with instructions to meet at certain coordinates, linked to Google Maps, in each city at a specific time (counted down) on Monday, April 28, similar to the Whysoserious.com/ComicCon scavenger hunt game.

Gather with 300 of your closest friends at this exact spot on April 28th.

You'll need to be in contact with a partner-in-crime who has online access to relay your instructions once you're there. These instructions will give you the TRAIL to follow, but be sure to look both ways when crossing the street; we wouldn't want you to make an unscheduled visit to the ER now, would we?

Put on a smile and plan to spend about an hour or so bonding with your fellow clowns.

Check back here often for updates or changes.

The emphasis on "TRAIL" and "ER" implies that the reward for this game will be the next Dark Knight theatrical trailer.

The locations are as follows (times are approximate and grouped by simultaneous times, but they will be no earlier than the times listed):

  • Boston: George Washington Statue in the Boston Public Garden at 5:30pm EDT
  • Philadelphia: Warehouse on 4000 block of Main St (check Google Maps) at 5:30pm EDT
  • New York: Center of Bryant Park at 5:30pm EDT
  • Toronto: Center of Nathan Phillips Square at 5:30pm EDT (fixed)
  • Chicago: Northwest fountain in Olive Park at 5:30pm CDT
  • Dallas: Center of northeast parking lot of Northpark Center at 5:30pm CDT
  • Kansas City: Northwest corner of Nall Ave and W 117th St, adjacent to Sprint Nextel Corporation (may be inside the compound) at 5:30pm CDT
  • Seattle: Amphitheater in Victor Steinbrueck Park at 5:30pm PDT
  • Los Angeles: Courtyard on the corner of Hollywood Blvd and Highland Ave at 5:30pm PDT
  • San Francisco: Center of Hillside Park at 5:30pm PDT
  • Sao Paulo: Praca Rodrigo Lefevre (northwest corner of Av. Paulista and Av. 9 de Julho near the Sao Paulo Museum of Art) at 5:30pm (GMT-3)
  • London: Northeast corner of St James Park (The Mall and Horse Guards Rd) at 9pm GMT

The hunt

As each city's countdown reached zero, their respective portrait link was updated with instructions for online "Oracles" to give to their partners on the ground, who would then give them numerical answers requested in the clues.

London's instructions

Ready to get cracking? Here are the instructions to relay to your clowns on the ground. Don't go losing your mind because you need to remember all the answers - you'll need them in about 30 minutes.

Step 1: By the "ubique-itous" statue with the alien friend, face forward and count every ground floor column to your right. Beware the policeman's black and blue stares.

Step 2: Up the stairs prepare for battle. You'll be greeted with open arms. On the island, discover those who died in war and divide by the women who surround them.

Step 3: Go to the place of the frilly collar and count the number of steps you see in stone and light.

The safe

30 minutes into the game, the portrait could be clicked to reveal a hidden safe requiring a 6-digit combination to open.

The combinations are as follows:

London: 35-90-48

Boston: 43-26-76
Philadelphia: 26-16-06
New York: 33-80-89
Toronto: 32-60-68
Chicago: 98-20-49

Kansas City: 74-35-76

Dallas: 86-56-01
Seattle: 65-42-60
Los Angeles: 41-44-98
San Fransisco: 76-36-42
São Paulo: 60-47-41

Using the answers collected by the players on the ground, the "Oracles" were able to open the safe, revealing a note from the Joker for the on-site players:

London's note

Good work, scavengers! Online clowns, be sure to give your on-the-ground cohorts these final instructions:

Around the bend from the Miserable People is an exotic gate. Your contact will be waiting there. He will give you your final set of instructions.

Stay together. Follow orders. You might have what it takes to pull this off.

The reward

The players on the ground were sent to a final location described in their city's safe note to receive a Joker card and a raffle ticket. They were then led into a theater and were given a private showing of a new theatrical trailer for The Dark Knight. One participant in each city was randomly chosen in a raffle to receive a film reel.

San Fransisco's safe reveals another note, which proved to be a clue. Each J corresponds to a letter in the alphabet. When unscrambled, the letters reveal "sittingducks."

This leads to Whysoserious.com/sittingducks a three-row duck-shooting game.
