Issue 1

November 23, 2007

The website TheGothamTimes.com went live with a digital version of the newspapers (The Gotham Times) sent to people who submitted photos to the landmark photo contest from Halloween.

The first page had a rip in the top left corner. Clicking and dragging this revealed the familiar "HA HA HA," which, when clicked on, led to Thehahahatimes.com.

  • Some participants who received the paper copy of The Gotham Times have reported that there are "typos" that appear on the hard copy but not online. One example was the use of the phrase "Rome byrns" on the "Playboy Bruce Wayne can't stop partying" article instead of "Rome burns." Other examples (if any) have yet to be found.

Issue 2

March 26, 2008

Upon the submission deadline at Ibelieveinharveydent.com, paper copies of the new issue were sent to all submitters, and the website was updated with brand-new articles detailing the current events that have been occurring in Gotham. The first issue was moved to an archive page.

Like the original, the page features a hidden link to Thehahahatimes.com. This time, it can be accessed by clicking on the "ha" in "Gotham." Moving the mouse over "ha" causes "HA HA HA" to flash on the page.

Website connections

The following websites were found from information from Issue 2:

Comic connections

  • Page 2 features the "letter to the editor" section. One of the letters is "Dent cannot be believed" is written by an Edward Nashton. Edward Nashton is the real name of Edward Nygma (the Riddler).
  • Page 3 features an ad for the Iceberg Lounge. In the comics, the lounge is owned by Oswald Cobblepot (the Penguin).
  • Page 4 features an article about a Batman statue being added to the Wax Museum. Madame Soleil's Wax Museum was used in a 1966 episode of the Batman TV series, where the Riddler used a Batman statue to smuggle in a 'Universal Wax Solvent' from France, to be used later against Batman.

Issue 3

June 13, 2008

After the voting had finished on Gothamelectionboard.com, a new issue of The Gotham Times appeared on Thegothamtimes.com. Participants on the Ibelieveinharveydent.com mailing list also begin to receive copies in the mail, from "The Gotham Times, P.O. Box 358, La Canada Flintridge, CA 91011."

Eleven days after the release of the new issue, upon mousing over the top left corner, the paper began to smolder and burn, linking to an image for a new Jokerized issue at Thehahahatimes.com

An ad for the Gotham City Pizzeria led to the discovery of Gothamcitypizzeria.com.

After the end of the countdown on Whysoserious.com/Overture, Thegothamtimes.com was "Jokerized" and became an exact duplicate of Thehahahatimes.com. (The site was later reverted to its non-Jokerized state shortly after the release of The Dark Knight.)
